At The Lampworks, great care is taken when packaging your merchandise for shipment. We strive to ensure that your merchandise arrives quickly and safely. Most delicate, fragile and glass items are double-boxed for safety. We use liberal amounts of bubble wrap and packing 'peanuts' to ensure that the item has the best possible chance of surviving the trip.
Insurance coverage is not included in the purchase price of an item. Although we take every conceivable precaution to see that your item is properly boxed, things can happen during transit. We strongly urge our customers to have their items insured. Insurance fees are based upon the value of the contents. For example, the USPS charges $4.20 to insure a package with a declared value of $300.00. We feel that it is a small price to pay for both buyer's and seller's piece-of-mind.
ALL ITEMS PURCHASED FROM THE LAMPWORKS ARE MADE PURSUANT TO A SHIPMENT CONTRACT. THIS MEANS THAT THE RISK OF LOSS AND TITLE FOR SUCH ITEMS PASS TO YOU UPON OUR DELIVERY TO THE CARRIER. IF YOU ELECT NOT TO HAVE YOUR ITEM INSURED, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE LAMPWORKS WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS TO ITEMS ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN DELIVERED TO THE CARRIER. IN THE EVENT OF DAMAGE OR LOSS DURING SHIPMENT, IT WILL BE THE BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS AGAINST THE CARRIER.
Shipping Terms & Carriers
The following shipping terms apply:
Items paid by Certified Check, Bank Check, or Money Order will be shipped within two (2) business days, when possible.
Items paid by Personal Check will be held for ten (10) business days until the check clears. A $25.00 Returned Check Fee applies for checks returned for Insufficient Funds.
In the event of a shipping delay, we will notify the buyer, if possible. If it is not practical to notify individual purchasers, a General Notice may be posted on the Announcements Board.
We ship most items via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail. We have had positive results with this method of shipping, and it is convenient. For items that exceed the USPS size and/or weight limitations, we will ship via United Parcel Service (UPS). If you would prefer that we use a particular Carrier, we will accommodate you to the best of our ability - please ask.
International Shipments & Special Requests
We will gladly ship your merchandise internationally. Please make inquiries concerning shipping charges for international shipments. Charges may be substantially higher than those listed in an Auction's Description and are the buyer's responsibility. Likewise, any special requests that require additional expense will be the buyer's responsibility. In these cases, the buyer shall pay the actual shipping and insurance fees (if desired), plus any applicable handling fees.
** Special Notice (effective January 1, 2000) **
Our bank charges a $3.75 processing fee for foreign draft and check collection. This fee will be charged to all international buyers.
